On Wednesday the 7th of August, Team 10 from NCS plan to do bag packing at Winnall Tesco to raise money for the Chestnut Tree House charity.
On Thursday the 8th of August Team 10 will be going to Swanmore College and doing a Sports Activity Day with a group of children. We are splitting into 3 groups and having 3 activities which will be age appropriate and fun for all involved. We plan to have stickers to give to the children with our charity’s logo so that parents can see them and become aware of the Chestnut Tree House charity.
The reason we have chosen to support the Chestnut Tree House charity is because a member from our group has been supporting this charity with his own school and he feels passionate about supporting them. Also, we have been doing NCS alongside 3 boys who have disabilities that make it harder for them to do some of the activities and the Chestnut Tree House charity can help other disable children to do activities they want to do.
Information about Chestnut Tree House charity:
Chestnut Tree House is a children’s charity providing hospice care services and community support for children and young people with progressive life-shortening conditions throughout East and West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and South East Hampshire.
There are potentially 1,000 families with life-limited children in Sussex. Chestnut Tree House offers support for the whole family including psychological and bereavement support, end of life and short break care and sibling support.
It currently costs over £4 million each year to provide all the care services offered by Chestnut Tree House. Families are never charged for their care and less than 6p in every pound is funded by the government, so we rely heavily on the generosity, help and support of the people of Sussex.
At Chestnut Tree House our goal is to provide the best quality of life for children, young people and their families, and to offer a total package of practical, social and spiritual support throughout each child’s life, however short it may be.
