FAQ’s

What is NCS?

National Citizen Service (NCS) is a government funded project working with 15-17 year olds across the country to make a positive difference for themselves and in the lives of others. It is a four week programme that brings together a socially diverse group of teenagers, puts them through physical challenges, teaches them new skills and asks them to develop a project to support those in need within their local community.

What is this site?

During the last two weeks of their experience, the young people develop a socially beneficial project, raise money for it and actively engage in supporting a good cause. This site helps them to raise awareness of their project and secure donations from friends, family and the public to achieve their aims.

I am having trouble sponsoring a group

Some people are experiencing difficulties at the processing stage when using Paypal. Please make sure you have enabled pop-ups in your browser. Usually this is found in the lefthand side of the URL bar. On iOS devices you will need to go into settings and then your browser settings.

How is the money I donate used?

The group should make it very clear in their project description how the money will be used. We encourage every group to become actively involved in supporting charities rather than just donating money. This is to instill a culture in young people that is more than just giving money, rather one where they become actively involved in volunteering and support.

Any donations that are not spent on the social action project will be gifted to the charity as a donation.

Please read our Terms and Conditions for more information on how we manage donations.

Does all my money go to the group/charity?

Personal Best Education ensures that all donated funds reach the intended group and their selected charity with the exception of a small bank transaction fee. This fee is deducted at the point of payment and is automatically calculated by Paypal services. Online transaction bank charges vary but will not exceed 20p + 2.75% of amount donated. So if you were to donate £10 to a project, the maximum bank fee charged on the donation will be 50p. If you were to donate £20, the maximum charge would be 80p.

Please read our Terms and Conditions for more information on how we manage donations.

Is the site secure?

Yes, our site is on a secure server. When payments are made you are taken to a Paypal payment gateway to complete your transaction using credit/debit card or Paypal account.

How can I be sure my money goes where you say it will?

Personal Best Education are part of The Mountbatten School, Romsey who are monitored and regulated by financial auditors as required by law for schools in the UK. We are also separately audited by The NCS Trust to ensure our processes and procedures are compliant with all charity and financial laws associated with collecting and managing donations.
